Q: Can Magic Movers move me anywhere in the United States?
A: We complete moves anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.
Q: Who will deliver my shipment to my new home out of state?
A: From beginning to end, only Magic Movers personnel will handle your shipment. We are not an agent for a "van line" and, therefore, we do not subcontract any part of our service to anyone else. Instead of a lone driver, we send teams of well-trained Magic Movers employees to ensure that your belongings are loaded and unloaded safely.
Q: Can I receive a guaranteed price for my interstate move?
A: Pricing for an interstate move is handled one of two ways. Once we have assessed your inventory of furniture and other belongings and identified an appropriate time frame for delivery, we offer the option of providing a binding price for your move. With a binding price, you have the security of knowing the exact cost of your move, up front.
We also offer the option of a non-binding, weight-based estimate of your move. Using this method, your move coordinator will assess your goods, estimate their total weight, and provide you with an estimated price based on that weight. On move day, your shipment is weighed once it is loaded on the truck and your final charges based on the actual weight, which might be slightly lower or slightly higher than the estimate.
Please discuss with your Sales Consultant as to which method is a better fit for you and your move.
Q: Will there be any additional costs?
A: There are several other costs that generally go into moving, such as the cost for packing materials, purchasing additional valuation to protect your move during transit (see below), and/or the need for storage of your goods for a period of time,
We use all straight trucks for all our moves so a shuttle is not usually an additional charge, but in rare instances and in certain high mountain locations that might have to happen. Please let your sales consultant know if there is any chance of that and they can let you know what the charge would be.
As long as you are fully prepared for the move on the day of the pickup and you have communicated consistently with your Magic Movers sales consultant, there should be no unexpected costs to the move. However, two unanticipated circumstances can lead to additional costs. The first is moving additional items that are not noted on your inventory. If you make changes to your original inventory prior to your move (for example, you decide to buy a new sofa before moving), it is essential to tell your sales consultant. Secondly, should you have last-minute packing to be completed by the crew, this will be billed at an hourly rate, as will any unpacking at your destination address. Regular communication with Magic Movers and maintaining careful organization will ensure that you can realistically assess the full cost of your move, and reduce anxiety throughout the planning process.
Q: What kind of payment is accepted for an interstate move?
A: Magic Movers accepts certified checks, bank checks, or money orders. We accept Visa and MasterCard with prior approval. You may need to notify your bank or credit card company ahead of time to ensure that the charge will be accepted. Payment must be made before furniture is unloaded at destination. We can accept cash but prefer not to as that means the driver has an excessive amount of liability. We are unable to accept personal checks for interstate moves.
Q: Does Magic Movers offer valuation (transit protection) for my move?
A: We want to make sure you are fully protected during your move, so when moving interstate with Magic Movers, you can choose to purchase a valuation option that covers your shipment.
We find that most interstate customers opt for Full (Replacement) Value, which holds a zero deductible. With this option, the cost of your premium is determined by the estimated total weight of your shipment. Should you choose to waive valuation, Magic Movers has a maximum liability under State Law for loss or damage to your property of $0.60 per pound, per article up to a maximum of $10,000.00. There is no additional cost for this option.
Magic Movers is fully licensed and insured for any property damage to the building or grounds.
Q: Can I select a specific day for pickup of my belongings?
A: We are able to guarantee most pickup dates, depending on availability. To ensure that we are available on your preferred pickup date, we recommend beginning the planning process with as much lead time as possible. Contacting Magic Movers 8-12 weeks prior to your move is ideal.
Q: Can I select a specific day for the delivery of my belongings to my new home?
A: The delivery date depends on availability, destination location, and your particular needs and flexibility regarding delivery dates. We will take into account any restrictions you may have and work closely with you throughout pre-move planning to ensure that your goods arrive on the agreed date.
Q: Does Magic Movers handle small interstate moves?
A: Yes, we can even move a single piece across the country. We encourage you to contact a Magic Movers sales consultant for more detail on what makes sense for your particular needs.
Q: Will Magic Movers move my vehicle?
A: We are unable to move vehicles.
Q: Will my belongings be the only ones on the truck?
A: Since we use straight trucks, that does not happen very often although it is a possibility as we try to maximize the efficiency of an interstate move and to maintain reasonable costs for our customers. To ensure that each shipment is kept separate, we construct temporary walls in the truck between the belongings of each customer. Additionally, we take a detailed inventory which records the exact items loaded on to the truck and their condition prior to the move.
Q: How do I best pack my possessions to remain secure on an interstate move?
A: There are a number of options to prepare your possessions for a safe journey. You may opt to have our crews professionally pack all or some of your goods; or may choose to pack your own items. If you decide to pack on your own, we offer a number of resources to assist you, including a Do It Yourself Guide, and we sell our packing materials.
Q: Does my flatscreen tv need to be boxed?
A: Magic Movers will not move a flatscreen unless it is properly boxed. We rent and sell flat screen boxes. Ask your salesman for more details.
